9 mind-changing reasons to “Why Email Marketing?” in 2019.

June 4, 2019 by Juhil Mendpara Leave a Comment

Why email marketing? - Cover

I’ve never come across a more direct digital marketing channel than emails. Of course, there’s Whatsapp marketing, Messenger Marketing, and all that, but emails have a special place as a marketing channel. There are reasons to implement email marketing even in 2019. And that’s what we are going to discuss today.

Why Email Marketing?

1. There’s more space for content.

Email Example

One of the reasons why email is a fantastic marketing channel is because it’s boundless.

You can write a one-word reply, and you can also write a thousand-word story in an email. You can put one link in the whole of a thousand words, or you can place three links and four images in just 300 words mail.

All in all, though there is a boundary on embedding video content, most of the email clients today provide an almost unlimited space to share your message effectively. All you need to make sure is that your email reaches the inbox and not the spam folder.

This limitless element of email gives an edge because:

  • Messages(Whatsapp or Messengers) are expected to be short, or else no one will read them.
  • Ads can mostly contain one link.
  • If there’s an option to attach multiple links, the reach will cost more.

Long story short, build an email list and get started with the marketing.

2. They are your people.

The emails you have are already based on the demographic, psychographic, geographic, and behavior of your prospects. You might have collected emails through web seminar, or workshop, or newsletter, or from a hundred other places, but at the end of the day, they are your people. They are the ones interested in your offerings.

E.g., The email screenshot I have attached above(point 1) is for blogger or content writer, and I am both. Therefore, I am a prospect for Jon. He collected my email(from a popup on SmartBlogger site) in that context only.

3. Emails can be used on other channels.

Facebook Ads Manager - Email Insertion

The people whose emails you’ve collected are your ultimate prospects. You can target them on different platforms and build your brand “omnichannely” with “The Rule of seven.” This way, you get an excellent ROI.

E.g., The above screenshot is of Facebook Ads Manager, wherein you can enter your email database and target only those people. Same goes with Google ads as well.

4. You can get personal.

When you have a database of email adresses, you can send personalized message to each and every one.

For e.g., John Doe is a potential client, and you know he’s a fan of Ronaldo (maybe because he tweets a lot about him). Using that information, you can send him a personalized email with something like “If Ronaldo was a marketer, he’d have checked XYZ tool”. This way you catch the other person’s interest, and hopefully, make a sale.

Don’t be a creep, though. Hire a good copywriter if you can’t write effectively.

5. You can push offers and make sales.

This is the best use of email database. Every email marketer collects them for this!

Promotional email example

You can share promotional offers on emails exclusively and can turn your subscribers into paying users/clients.

E.g., I used to use the Grammarly free version before I got this email. After this offer mail, I switched to premium. Likewise, you can also convert emails into leads, and leads into customers. I will share a How-to guide on all of it soon. Subscribe to get notified on that.

6. Email Marketing is relatively cheap.

Initially, you might need to put in some bucks to collect emails– which you were going to do either way for something like ads or SEO. But after that, email marketing is inexpensive. You can share your messages for pennies and convert them into big bucks.

7. They build credibility.

Regular emails from your brand build credibility among your prospects. The rule of Seven applies here as well.

People buy or do business with the people they know, like, or trust. Email can ‘chip in’ in all three factors.

E.g., I regularly get emails from Jon Morrow of SmartBlogger. His emails mostly have actionable tips for writers. This way he built the credibility of himself as an expert writer. Now, when Jon emails me about his new Copywriting course, chances are I will buy that course.

That’s the power of credibility!

8. Emails are professional.

Emails have a pattern– a template. This makes it look more professional. A well written, professional email has a far better impact than some random LinkedIn spam.

If you are in the client/service business, email is the way to go.

9. You control it!

This is my favorite part of email marketing.

You invest $$$$ in SEO and suddenly Google changes its algorithm(like it did yesterday), and BOOM all your ranking pages are to be found nowhere. Similarly, you invested $$$$$ in Facebook ads and got all those page likes and Facebook changed its algorithm, and BOOM your post reaches only a thousand people in a 100,000+ likes page.

This never happens with email. You control your list! No one can steal that from you(Yes, they can but you know what I mean).

Not that SEO or Facebook ads are bad, but emails are a safe bet.

Final Words:

Email marketing might not seem a good option in 2019, but it is. If your email copies are fantastic, you can directly penetrate the market and grab your clients/customers. The above reasons are my views on “Why Email Marketing?”

I haven’t done any email marketing YET, but my steps are towards it, and the above reasons seem to be the motivation behind me entering the email game.

The “hidden power” of Meme Marketing – Why Memes?!

June 2, 2019 by Juhil Mendpara Leave a Comment

I am a memer, Period. I will reply with, “Ah sh*t, here we go again.” if you ask me “why?” in the comments.

There are only two things that remain constant in my day to day life:

  1. Writing content for clients
  2. Looking at memes

I literally scroll through hundreds of memes daily; Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter– Platform doesn’t matter.

Meme Marketing is the best- Cover

As a digital marketing enthusiast, I follow brands that invest in memes. From Netflixes to the Durexes of the world, I love brands being a part of meme culture. I, for a reason, believe that meme marketing is the most underrated marketing in today’s digital scenario. Read on to know why.

Why Meme Marketing?

The reason why memes are underrated in the context of marketing is that only a few brands are leveraging the opportunity. If yours is amongst the few, keep on; If not, read ahead to know the “Whys” of Meme Marketing.

1. Memes attach with the most powerful emotion:

“Happiness” is the strongest emotion, according to me. We all chase it. “The pursuit of happiness” is the most real & the most common element among everyone.

[The movie is awesomely inspiring. Please watch if you haven’t.]

“A brand is worthless if it doesn’t connect with the right audiences in a relevant way.”

Memes attach with that emotion. Memes make people smile, laugh, and sometimes even ROFL. Now, if a brand connects its message with a bit of creativity, chances are they will hit the right emotion.

For e.g., Netflix sharing such meme makes us nostalgic and pulls us to watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S., and guess where the series is streaming?!

2. “Meme” is a culture:

When the largest Youtuber, Pewdiepie, talks memes in almost all his videos; When the most famous entrepreneur, Elon Musk, shares and promotes memes throughout his feed; When our own John Wick, Keanu, is himself a meme, one thing is sure: MEME CULTURE IS REAL!

“Marketing is a contest for people’s attention”

– Seth Godin

Millions of Gen Zs and millennials share and consume memes every day. That’s where their attention is. It’s a culture for them. So, why not invest where their focus is?! Say after me: “Attention brings ROI…Attention brings ROI!…”

Still not convinced? Well, the most famous digital marketer, Garyvee, promotes it as well.

3. People share them:

Don’t close this article. Go to Instagram or Facebook, look at you last few chats(group) or feed, there will be one thing common: Memes!

People love sharing memes.

Memes are funny, trendy, sharable, easy to scan, to the point — in short, a perfect dose of a quick laugh. Therefore, people share them, and hence, memes get more reach than any other type of content. Reach converts to leads, and leads to customers.

Final Words:

Without stretching the wrap-up, here’s why you should invest in memes for marketing:

Memes are

  • Trendy
  • Likable
  • Funny
  • Sharable
  • Emotional
  • Scannable
  • and Understandable…

…pieces of content which grabs attention in a jiffy and delivers the message in seconds.

If you are a part of meme culture and believe that investing in Meme Marketing can bring positive ROI, comment below with your favorite meme.

How to grow Twitter followers organically?

May 31, 2019 by Juhil Mendpara Leave a Comment

Twitter organic growth- cover

If you are an old time visitor of this blog, you know I have had an article with the exact same title i.e. “How to grow your twitter followers organically?” a couple of years back. And, yes, it used to rank on page 1 of Google!

Anyway, the reason why I am bringing that article here is because of the way it started. It began as, “Twitter, the fourth most used social media site(after Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram) is one of the best people-centric marketing platforms. Maybe, Twitter is losing the attention of modern Generation. But, it still remains one of the best when it comes to marketing.”

*Yep, I see the Grammar error too.*

Though most of the tactics I will add in here will be similar to those then, the introduction will fail due to one reason: Twitter is no more the fourth most used social media. In fact, it’s not even in the top five.

However, Twitter is still the same people-centric platform it was, and hence is a necessary platform to be included in the marketing strategies. And, the most effective way to grow Twitter is organically. “Why?”, you ask.

Here’s why you should grow it organically?

The biggest reason why you should grow Twitter followers organically is because the only other way is to buy them. Running user targeted ads is another story.

There’s no ROI on getting fake followers. However, if people follow you because they like or believe in your brand, chances are they are your prospects and ready to invest in you.

And, to make that happen, you have to grow them by putting some effort. Here’s how:

Grow Twitter Followers Organically:

There are several tactics which one can utilize to grow their Twitter following. Here are the most prioritized of those:

1. Engage followers from other platforms:

If you are new to Twitter and are trying to increase followers, ask people already following you to join you on your Twitter journey.

  • Add your tweets to your Instagram stories.
  • Write a Facebook post about your Twitter journey and what they will get different there.
  • Add a follow button on your site/blog.
  • Send mail to the subscribers to make them aware about your Twitter handle.
  • Tweet something informational/educative and share it with your professional Networks like the one on LinkedIn.

2. Tweet & Retweet:

Again, Content is the King.

Most of the people who follow you on Twitter expects content from your side. Provide them that! Tweet something funny, informative, or educating. If you don’t have the time to do so, merely Retweeting such tweets would be better than nothing at all.

Twitter is all about a casual conversation with your clients/customers or prospects. Tweeting means to start that conversation.

If you don’t have any ideas or sources to post on twitter, use apps like Feedly or Pocket to store & discover industry-oriented information.

3. Engage:

Engaging is the ultimate tactic to grow your Twitter account organically. Sure, it isn’t easy. Of course, it’s time-consuming. But guess what? Every bit of Twitter ROI lies under engagement.

Be a part of the community. Retweet others’ tweets. Add your two cents on relevant tweets. Be funny. Treat your handle like customer support. There are several ways to increase your reach with engagements, in short.

One of the best Twitter handles to learn engagement, or utilizing Twitter in general, is that of Wendy’s. They promote their product, help & roast their customers, and trash their competitors on Twitter. You can do your version of the same.

pic.twitter.com/IhRsonIUnJ

— Wendy's (@Wendys) January 3, 2017

“Content is the king, but engagement is the Queen, and the lady rules the house.”

Another way of engaging is tagging, tweeting to, or replying to popular influencers in your arena.

E.g., If you are a digital marketer and you add your two cents on Neil Patel’s tweet, there is a subconscious effect on people’s mind. This can lead to enormous growth over time. Also, replying to popular handles increases your reach. So, it’s a win-win anyway.

Here are stats from one of a new Twitter handle that gained quite a few impressions just on the basis of engagement(Not much but for 100 engagement by a SAAS product with a very niche market, these stats are good):

4. Follow:

One of the common things with non-celebrity Twitter handles with good amount of followers is: They follow others.

I am not just filtering & picking here. You can check the whole of twitter and this will be a commonality in most of them.

In short, start following others, even if they are remotely related to your brand. Chances are they will follow you back.

5. Hashtags:

Tweets that include hashtags can result in as much as a 1,065% increase in engagement compared to a similar tweet without hashtags.

Source

Using hashtags increases discoverability. People use hashtags to find like-minded people, solutions, etc. Therefore, you must use it. On the other side, you can search for hashtags in your niche to find people to follow and increase engagements.

You can use trending Hashtags to best increase the reach of your handle. Also, you can find relevant hashtags using tools like All Hashtags or Autogramtags

Another popular way to leverage hashtags to create brand awareness and increase brand value is custom hashtags.

You can ask your followers to use your hashtags while they are at your event, or want to enter your Giveaway, or ask something to you, or many other things.

The last time I wrote this article, Garyvee’s #60secclub & #askgaryvee was booming. You can create something similar too once your brand is established.

6. Final tip(yet first thing to do):

Create relevant profile.

You profile should show who you are, what your business is about, and what will the followers get from your tweets.

Ann Handley’s Twitter is a perfect example of creating a relevant profile.

You can only write a few words in your profile, so better make best of it.

Final Words:

Twitter is one of the most powerful social media platforms out there. Increasing Twitter followers organically means increased brand awareness indirectly. Therefore, use the tips I shared above, be consistent in your efforts, and you will surely see a positive ROI of this 300 million+ platform.

And, yeah, please follow me on Twitter. Goodbye!
