Why there is no need to share YouTube videos on Social media

There is no need to share Youtube videos:

no need to share Youtube videos- image

Previously, I have written about How Youtube can be used for business. But to really leverage the content you put out you need to have more viewers. And for more views, we need proper distribution strategy…But is it true that social media sharing is the only way to increase views?

I don’t think so!

On the contrary of every article I have written on this blog i.e. Facebook Marketing or Instagram Marketing or Twitter Marketing or any other, This article is completely different.

So, Why there is no need to share Youtube videos on Social media?

Something I have learned over time about YouTube is that it doesn’t need social sharing for more views(I know social media sharing gets more views).

But from what I have observed, Something more important than sharing on social media is the Title and the tags of the video. It’s obvious but I have broken it down to two things.

1) The Recommended part:

Example why there is no need to share Youtube videos

It’s no secret I like watching videos from Gary Vaynerchuk’s Youtube channel and Casey Neistat’s YouTube channel. So, I will get recommendations mostly about their videos.

And YouTube certainly recommends videos from their channel. But there’s more to it. Youtube doesn’t only show videos from their channel but it also shows me videos from other channels having the name or tag “Casey Neistat” or “Gary Vaynerchuk” in it. I think you are understanding where I am going, aren’t you?…Let’s elaborate.

for eg. If one watches Casey Neistat videos daily and you made some video with the name “Casey Neistat” in the title and tags(Remember, the video must be relatable or there must be a part of the name in the video.) then the new video by you or any other publisher will be shown on recommended list of the user.

P.S: I personally have experimented it with the name “Harvey Specter” in the title.

Hence, there is no need to share YouTube videos on social media. Just make the Titles and tags good and related.

2) The Relevance part:

Example why there is no need to share Youtube videos- Keywords

You can get views from the very first day, if you know this thing: That YouTube(By Default) searches by Relevance.

YouTube doesn’t care about your experience, it doesn’t care about your channel(either new or old), it doesn’t care about the number of views you get. That’s why I would recommend YouTube for business if asked for Google or YouTube. Because getting ranking for specific Keyword on Google is Hard. Very Very Hard.

As you can see in above screenshot, I have searched for Keyword “How to Read a Book” and I got the results based on Title name (either exact or nearly exact), Description (Containing related words of search) and Tags used in the video.

You can also see the video with less views and less age is above the one with more views.  Because YouTube search based on relevance.

Hence, You can leverage this flaw to increase interactions and views. And you won’t need to share YouTube videos on social media for the same.

Conclusion:

Building an audience on YouTube is hard or is it?…It obviously is hard!

But if you consider this two point i.e The recommendation part and The relevance part then it’s not that hard.

In short, you can get more views and grow your channel without social media sharing. But I would recommend both: Having proper titles and description as well as Social media sharing.
